Supporters Club Logo
17 March 2003
What the project is about:
This project is about designing a Soccer Supporters Club logo. The logo
should be used as a unique identity for the Supporters Club.
Identify what graphic is used for:
The graphic should be used for this Supporters Club identity. It will be
included in all their letterheads and on their web site, and it will
also be included in promotional activities by the Supporters Club.
The graphic should incorporate:
- Passion
- A clear identification with the South Melbourne Soccer Club
- Modern design that will appeal to the young community (14 year olds to
mid 30’s). Not a typical old style emblem design.
- Modern design will also show the supporters forward movement in modernising
the club.
- Distinct South Melbourne Soccer Club colours
- The logo should be an illustration for advantages such as the supporter
cheering is not a distinctly recognisable figure, but a broad recognisable
element as a whole that anyone can fit in.
- An illustration is also advantages with a limit of 2 colours, and can
be printed on a wide variety of media.
Identify the audience:
The audience should appeal to the young teens, teenagers, and young adults.
A clean and respectful image should be accomplished.
Words that describe the flavour and intention of the graphic:
The flavour of the graphic is modern, striking and passionate. It portrays
to the viewer the passion, thrill and enjoyment of been a part of the
South Melbourne Soccer Club as a Supporter.
Rationale:
Using well identifiable graphic elements with the scarf, supporter cheering,
and the South Melbourne Soccer Club logo, I managed to successfully create
the logo according to the design brief. I chose the supporter cheering
and holding the scarf passionately above his head to give the logo passion,
excitement, and realism to what happens at SMSC games. The distinct Blue
and White stripes of the South Melbourne Soccer Club logo are shown to
identify the supporters to the club. There is balance between the Supporters
and the SMSC logo, separated by a ribbon with the group’s name.
